Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown – Movie Review
I watched this movie when I was a child, so it brought back some memories when watching it again as an adult. I ordered the movie on Amazon for my child to watch. It’s about the Peanuts gang going to a Summer camp in which they face a small team of bullies who are always cheating at the camp’s competitions. Snoopy and Woodstock of course end up at the camp as well, riding on Snoopy’s motorbike, and they have their own adventure alongside the children.
The competition really takes off when the children have a canoe race, resulting in a thunderstorm that knocks everyone off course and the Peanuts gang end up on a search for Snoopy and Woodstock, who get separated during the storm.
The only thing about this movie that I think could confuse a child is that it all takes place in Summer, but they end up in a mountain cabin where it’s snowing heavily. It flips back and forth from showing Summer weather to Wintry weather, and it’s all in the same few days. I understand that mountains can be snowy, even when on normal ground it’s warm weather, but many children don’t know that. Although, children probably wouldn’t care enough about that to even question it.
This movie puts some emphasis on boys vs. girls, in that the girls (Marcie, Sally, Lucy, and Peppermint Patty) are their own group competing against the boys (Charlie Brown, Franklin, Linus and Schroeder), until they start working as a team.
I think this is a cute, somewhat comical movie that children can enjoy watching and parents can enjoy it, too. ^_^
