Disney-Pixar Cars – Movie Review
This movie is about a rookie race car, Lightning McQueen, who is competing in a world famous race, The Piston Cup, in hopes to win the championship. He and two other racers, Chick Hicks and The King, end up in a three-way tie and must race again in California in a few days. On the way, an incident occurs which causes Lightning McQueen to get lost, and he ends up crashing into numerous things and causing damage to a small, old town called Radiator Springs.
Doc Hudson, who is both the town’s medical doctor and also local Judge, sentences McQueen to fix the road that he destroyed, and basically he’s in a type of jail until the work is finished. This makes Lightning McQueen angry because his dream is to win the Piston Cup and being stuck in this little town is preventing him from showing up on time.
While in Radiator Springs, McQueen actually starts to like some of the automobiles who are there, particularly a car named Sally.
As a series of events unfolds during the few days of being in this old town, McQueen learns more about the other automobiles and history of the town. He also learns that Doc Hudson used to be a famous race car called The Hudson Hornet. Doc Hudson understands how temporary the fame and glory of being a race car is, and helps McQueen to understand.
In this movie we see a type of paradigm shift with Lightning McQueen. His initial arrogance is met with humble circumstances, something that he was in serious need of before he ended up in Radiator Springs.
I think this movie has a good plot and underlying moral to the story. I recommend it.
